Back to Uni - Room Decor Ideas

Heading to University for the first time or even heading back after such a long time off, can be incredibly daunting, especially with all the uncertainty going on at the moment. We have created a moodboard below of styles and decor we think you’ll love for the ultimate cozy, chill and relaxing dorm or uni room.

Keep reading for our tips & tricks on how to utilise your probably, very, small space and how to make your room feel like a home away from home.

Plants & Flowers

Plants are a necessity in any home, they fill your room with clean energy, they look fab and it’s something you can nurture and look after. If you’re convicted you will kill them, just opt for fake. We promise to not tell anyone. Ikea offer so many inexpensive ones.

Rugs

Rugs are a very important part of making a room feel homely and cozy, and they are also really easy to change up when the new seasons arrive. Lighter colours like white or cream can brighten up a room, or darker colours can add to the hygge vibe which is perfect for the winter months.

Textiles

Purchase good quality, soft colourful linen for your bedroom. It’s always good to have a white bed sheet which you can style up with different blankets, throws and pillows. But sometimes having a bright colour like yellow can help you wake up with a spring in your step. H&M do some beautiful great quality covers, as well as Ikea. Cotton & Linen will help your skin breathe.

Mirror

Mirrors are a FAB way to not only add extra light into your room, but they also make small rooms appear bigger which is the perfect hack for a tiny uni room! How about getting a floor length mirror where you can get ready and do make-up (and get the perfect selfie), and then add some smaller ones to your wall. These also work amazingly within a gallery wall.

Gallery Wall & Wall Decorations

Whether you love photography and having an Inspo wall to inspire you before class, or you simply like to hang photos or your friends and family up, gallery walls have the opportunity to make you smile and feel inspired on the days you feel homesick or sad. Posters and stickers are another great alternative to add some personal style into your room. Etsy & Urban Outfitters have some great options

Beds

Who doesn't want a comfy bed? Especially after a long day of studying, all you will want is your bed calling your name where you can relax, read, watch Netflix and even eat dinner sometimes! If you have to purchase your own bed before heading off to uni, check out Happy Beds or Ikea for some very stylish and inexpensive beds. If you know you’ll have friends round a lot, you could opt for a sofa bed that then turns into a double when it’s time to settle in for a sweet slumber.

Good luck, enjoy yourself and make your room feel as homely as possible! Love, NN xx
