Ways to Celebrate Easter whilst in Self Iso

Families usually have Easter traditions, and the thought of being alone or without your family during this time can be really daunting, especially if you live alone. I know for me, I love having Easter egg hunts with my sister in the garden, sitting down for a big roast dinner in the afternoon with all my family, playing games, and then eating freshly baked Hot Cross Buns that my dad would make, in the evening, whilst watching a film.

  1. Host an Easter bake off via Zoom

Don’t let the fact that you are not physically with your family stop you from hosting your yearly traditional Easter Bake Off! Platforms like Zoom allow you to video call friends and family. You could easily set a bake off time limit, and show off your final product at the end. Sure, you can’t taste test - but you can still judge on the appearance!

  2. Send Easter Cards

Send some love to your nearest and dearest by having an Arts & Crafts afternoon where you create home made easter cards. Write a loving message and then send it out to people to inject some love and happiness into their day.

  3. Paint/Dye Eggs

Another traditional Easter activity is dying, or painting eggs with pretty designs. Again, you could Zoom or FaceTime your mum, sister, dad, nan, bestie, whoever, write a list of all the equipment you need to ensure you all have everything you need and then spend the whole afternoon catching up, chatting, painting and looking at the final eggs.

  4. Easter Egg Hunt

This would only really work if you are in Quarantine with your family (or friends), but you could set up an Easter egg Hunt in the house, or garden (weather dependant), set up a timer, and whoever ends with the most amount of eggs is the winner!

  5. Make your own Easter egg

How about attempting to make your own flavoured Easter eggs!! There are so many recipes on Pinterest. Just type in ‘Homemade Easter eggs’, scroll through and find your desired choice of flavours and then get making! 6. Netflix Play

On Easter Sunday, how about using Netflix Play and watching an Easter film with your family. Snuggle up, grab the popcorn and agree on a film that you will all love and enjoy spending some time doing that together. Some of our favourites are Peter Rabbit, Charlottes Web,

  7. Enjoy a tradition roast

For me personally, one of my favourite parts of Easter Sunday is the family roast. If you can’t be with your family, that doesn’t mean you can’t cook a roast and enjoy it alone. Pop onto FaceTime, crack open a bottle of wine and spend dinner time catching up over how your days have been and what you’ve been doing. Remember to include all the necessities like Yorkshire puddings, a delicious home made gravy, all the veggies and whatever protein you like, M&S do great nut roasts or you could attempt to make your own. Easter eggs for desert are definitely required.
