Hello, my name is Rebecca and I have been a social media and public relations intern here at Number Nine Communications since July. To give you a bit of an insight into what it’s like at Number Nine, I thought I could share with you a bit about me, and how I came to be an intern here!

My background is in beauty, something that has always been a bit of an obsession of mine, so after finishing school it was only natural that I trained as a beauty therapist and began my career working in a spa. Having now worked in the beauty industry for nearly seven years I have been lucky enough to work with incredible brands like Clarins, Elemis, Nails Inc, Champneys, Fake Bake and many more!

Through working with these brands, I was introduced to the world of PR and was instantly fascinated with it, as it combined so many of my interests from branding, to social media, writing, communications and marketing. I decided that I wanted this to be the next step in my career and before long I had applied to study Public Relations, Media and Marketing at Canterbury Christ Church University.

What are you studying at uni?

I study Public Relations, Media and Marketing at Canterbury Christ Church University!

How did you get the internship?

At the end of my second year of University I decided that I wanted to actually start working and gaining experience in the industry so started looking for an internship. In my first year at university I had attended a workshop led by Alex the founder of Number Nine, and followed the company as I really liked the sound of it. Luckily for me, as I began my search for an internship Number Nine posted an advert for a PR and Social Media intern on their Facebook page and I instantly applied!

What do you do at Number Nine?

I have been interning for three months and I have learnt so much already. Every day is different as I am assigned different projects to work on that vary from writing content, to influencer marketing and social media interaction with various interesting and exciting clients like Assome! and Yeti & The Fox. Working here at Number Nine has given me such valuable experience and insight into the industry, something that I think will really help me through my final year of university and into my new career in PR!
