HOW PILATES CAN IMPROVE YOUR SEX LIFE

Sex is such an important part of a healthy relationship, and great sex brings couples closer together. With Valentine’s Day looming, we got to thinking about how you can improve your sex life.

Natalie Ziegler from Core The Studio, Kensington, explained why Pilates, a conditioning and resistance based exercise developed by Joseph. H Pilates is a fantastic way to tone up while improving the quality of your sex life (What’s not to like there?!)

Pilates teaches you to support your body weight

Unlike other gym workouts, the only equipment you need for Pilates is your own body weight. Since Pilates teaches you to support your body weight for a long period of time, you’ll soon be able to do the same during sex and be enjoying yourself without the discomfort of getting worn out.

Pilates improves stamina

Pilates exercises are not done quickly, and the participant is taught to focus on control, endurance and technique rather than speed. Mastering this will improve your stamina and strength, as well as general fitness, resulting in more intimate and longer sex.

Pilates increases core strength

Pilates focuses on strengthening your inner core, rather than just your abs. This includes your pelvic floor, which refers to the group of muscles in your pelvis that support your sexual organs.  Learning to control these muscles will increase sensation during sex and strengthening them will also intensify your orgasms and make them last longer.

Pilates increases flexibility

Pilates improves muscle flexibility and promotes healthy joints, as well as improving hip flexibility and helping to eliminate back pain. It’s no surprise that greater flexibility means more creativity in the bedroom, and you’ll soon be getting into positions with your partner that you never thought possible!
