We spend a third of our lives sleeping, and it’s no secret that sleep is a main key factor in living a healthy and happy life. Not only that but it can improve your skin, help aid weightless, improve focus and concentration and in general just makes you feel a hell of a lot better. With the clocks recently going back, we thought it would be a good idea to compile a few tips on how to get your beauty sleep each night and how to conquer your body clock.

upgrade yourself
Make sure you have some perfect cozy pajamas next to your bed, this is essential for creating that comfortable environment for you to drift off into when you’re in bed. Setting the mood is important… so have some cozy bedding, maybe a hot water bottle (it’s getting colder) and those warm PJ’s pf yours and you’re all set for a great night’s sleep.

use a sleep mask
The lighting of your bedroom matters and the use of a sleep mask goes hand-in-hand with adjusting your lighting. A sleep mask will help you feel rested and ready for bed. Nightire have got you covered when it comes to finding that comfy sleep masks click the link to find yours.

take a warm shower

a warm bath or shower can really help soothe your muscles, contrary to some peoples belief, it’s not the rise in body temperature that makes you sleepy, it’s the cooling down that tricks the body into thinking you have gone from daytime into night-time which promotes that sudden need to curl off and zzz.

eat an earlier dinner

Ensuring that your dinner is ready by a reasonable time allows your body more time to stabilise blood sugar levels, which plays a role in making you feel less fatigued and irritable. Not only that, but going to bed with a full tummy is uncomfortable and you might find you struggle to initially fall asleep.

read a good book

Meander your way through your fav book, or a book you’ve been meaning to read for a while, to get your body and mind into that sweet relaxation spot which will help you drift off. It will also help you switch your mind off after a hectic day.

put your phone down
We know it’s tempting to keeping scrolling through your Pinterest boards or keeping up with Instagram or even sending that last email, but the light from your phone is keeping you up. This is because it is keeping your mind active and engaged, which isn’t ideal for your pre-bedtime relaxation. Give yourself an hour no phone zone before you jump into bed and we promise you’ll feel brighten in the mornings.
