Inspiring Women

Who are the women that inspire you?

Today is International Women’s Day (IWD) so what better time to shine the spotlight on all the women over the years there have been so courageous and inspiring, and people we can look up to. The first IWD occurred in 1911, supported by over one million people. Now from film industries to health care women across the world have battled sexism and fought for their equal rights. Here are women that we think deserve the celebration on this years International Women’s Day.

This is Amelia Earheart (1897 - 1937). She was the first women to ever fly solo across the Atlantic in 1932 and she became the first woman pilot in 1935, after flying solo from Hawaii to California.

This is Audrey Hepburn (1929 - 1993) Apart from being among the world’s best known actresses, Audrey put her fame into good use later in life as she became a UNICEF ambassador, travelling to various countries such as; Ethiopia, Ecuador and Bangladesh - to highlight issues and set a great example.

“The most important thing is to enjoy your life - to be happy - it’s all that matters” - Audrey Hepburn.

This is Eleanor Roosevelt (1884 - 1962). She had a significant impact on health care in the US and around the world - all while revolutionising the role of first wife from social organiser to influential public figure. Roosevelt was appointed as head of the UN human rights commission.

What can YOU do to get involved?

International Women’s Day 2019 campaign theme - ‘Balance for Better’

Balance drives a better working world, let’s all work together to create this. Balance is not a women’s issue but a business issue. It is time to change things up in the board room, let’s have a more gender balanced government, media coverage and balance in wealth.
